PGG Wrightson North Otago livestock manager Mark Yeates (right) takes a bid during the Oamaru ewe fair yesterday, watched by Kelvin Wilson.

The pen of Coopdale 2-tooth capital stock ewes, offered by Richard and Colette Strowger, of Waianakarua, sold for $150, the top price of the sale, followed by Rob McLeod with $142, also for Coopdale 2-tooth ewes.

The yarding comprised about 2000 ewes, which was one of the smaller offerings, and quality was good, PGG Wrightson stock agent Glenn Hopkinson said.

Prices for 2-tooths ranged from $130 to $150, two and three-shear ewes ranged from $115 to $137 and older ewes sold from $89 to $110.

There was competition throughout the sale and a complete clearance was achieved. Buyers came from Waimate and the North Otago area.
