Deer Industry chief appointed

Deer Industry New Zealand has appointed Dan Coup as its new chief executive.

Mr Coup, who is at present the Meat Industry Association trade and economic manager, will take up the position on July 22.

He takes over from Mark O'Connor, who has stood down after 13 years in the position to run his family-owned investment business.

Deer Industry New Zealand chairman Andy Macfarlane said Mr Coup had a unique background, combining an honours degree in genetics and molecular biology plus an MBA.

His experience at the Meat Industry Association dealing with trade and market access issues would stand him in good stead, Mr Macfarlane said.
