A successful Rakaia Gorge high country station is opening its farm gate next week.
Snowdon Station, on Lake Coleridge Road, will host the next Beef and Lamb New Zealand central Canterbury farming for profit field day on Wednesday, March 26.
Facilitator Tom Fraser said Snowdon Station had a proven record for producing high quality lambs for its on-farm sale in mid-January each year.
''The field day will be a great opportunity for farmers to see and understand the management systems that are put in place to achieve this objective.
''Snowdon Station has a good balance of flats and high country pastures and the approach taken to integrate these land classes into the grazing management system to maximise sheep production will be fully explored.''
He said Snowdon Station had an on-going pasture development plan, both on the flat and on uncultivatable hills and the results of these programmes would be discussed.
