Colliers merges with Chapman

Commercial property specialists Colliers International has announced a second business merger, with Dunedin-based valuation company Chapman Consultancy.

The Dunedin merger is part of a broader Otago expansion involving Colliers International Otago, which last week announced a separate merger with Queenstown residential agency Hoamz.

Operating from offices in Queenstown, Wanaka and Dunedin, the new company, Otago Realty Holdings, will provide Otago's only region-wide valuation and advisory service, plus commercial and residential agency services.

Colliers International Dunedin director Dean Collins said it was a ''hugely positive step''.

''It's great to be combining resources with a well-established, family-run local company,'' he said in a statement.

There will be more than 40 people employed as either commercial brokers, residential agents or valuers, plus further staff in administration, marketing, accounts and agency support.

The target merger date is November 1, with Chapman Consultancy due to move in beside Colliers in Dunedin at that time.
