Dunedin and Queenstown chocolate makers have won awards at this year's New Zealand Chocolate Awards.

The awards, held in Auckland last week, look for New Zealand's top chocolates.

Dunedin company Ocho won gold medals in the ''bean-to-bar'' dark chocolate bar category for its 100% Cacao Solomons and 75% Cacao Fiji.

The Remarkable Chocolate Company, in Queenstown, won two silver medals in the bark or brittle category for its Organic Dark Chocolate Bark with Roasted Almonds and Crispy Quinoa, and Organic Dark Chocolate Bark with Marshmallow, Toasted Coconut and Raspberries.

It also took home a silver medal in the flavoured chocolate bar category for its 70% Dark Chocolate, Ginger and Salted Caramel bar.

Wellington company Sublime Chocolates was awarded a gold medal in the filled chocolate bon bon category using Central Otago wine, with its Akarua Pinot Noir Bon Bon.
