In a press conference this afternoon updating the public on the government's Covid-19 response, Ardern said Australia shouldn't be so quick to send New Zealanders home as they made up a key part of its workforce and it would need them when the epidemic ended.
"If they wish for Australia to be in a position to gear up in the aftermath of the outbreak then they will need a workforce to do that and New Zealand make up that workforce. They on average earn more and pay more taxes than others. They are a key part of the Australian economy and I would have thought they wouldn't want to be so quick to lose them."
Ardern said she had been very taken back by Australia's acting immigration minister Alan Tudge's comments that those who were on temporary visas who were unable to access support or support themselves should consider going home.

I have been in Aus since before they changed the rules to try and stop anyone who wasn't white from getting into Australia. Long enough to lose any respect for Australians as a species. They are cowardly, dishonest and selfish people, their laws are a reflection of them. Yes there are good Australians, and I have met all three of them.

I am a Nzeder living in the land of Oz and have done so for the last 16 years. Am married to an Ozzie and have two dual citizen children. I and many other expat's really get tired of the insults thrown across the Tasman. My experience is this Morrison Govt. is not a true reflection of the majority of Australians I meet every day. I certainly know as many selfish, cowardly, dishonest and selfish Kiwis too Grizz. I don't think your line of thinking reflects anybody's view but your own. 'Throwing your toys out of the cot' helps no one. For the record, there are alot of the Australians that wouldn't mind having Adern at the helm.
You're right leadbelly, my thinking doesn't reflect anybody's thinking but my own, I'm not a sheep, I think for myself and I say it as I see it.
The truth is not something I am afraid of, and I'm not afraid to say what I think, after all, I am not an Aussie, and I am not one of those kiwis I see over here biting their tongue because they are too afraid to stand up to the BS of the Aussies. Kiwis that come here under the new rules are sell outs, they are agreeing to allow themselves to be treated as second class citizens and I have no respect for them for doing that. I certainly would not have moved here under those rules.
And of course a lot of Aussies, and indeed a lot of people all around the world would love to have Jacinda as their leader, I said Aussies were cowards, I didn't say that they were dumb!
And no one would call me an "Nzeder" and I certainly wouldn't call myself that, show some self respect for heaven's sake.
Grizz you say you’ve been in Aus since the rules changed so have had ample time to leave if you thought that lowly of Australia and Australians, however by the sounds of it you are still there. So life must be hell for you living with that species. Either that or you’re a bloody hypocrite.
I’ve also been in Australia for a long time in fact since 1982 so know a fair bit about this country and the people and can tell you that we do not need snivelling wingers like you over here.

Why should I leave? I love Australia, it's the people I don't like and most of them don't love Australia, they pollute its waterways, they burn it, they steal it from mines and sell it to foreigners, they kill its flora and fauna. Just walk along any roadside anywhere in Australia and the rubbish will show you exactly how much 'Aussies' love Australia. And then we have the Aussies who think it's a 'White' country.
The corruption goes from its churches to its governments, from its environmental organisations to its police forces. Wingers? I don't know where you would find bigger 'whingers' than Aussies, if that's what you meant, sigh!
