Three Dunedin city councillors will help oversee the way a new funding programme is distributed to Maori and Pasifika.

At a community and culture meeting yesterday, it was confirmed Crs Carmen Houlahan and Jules Radich will represent the council on the Hapori Maori Innovation and Development funding panel, and Cr Marie Laufiso will be the representative on the Pasifika Communities Innovation and Development Fund.

The Hapori fund will offer $120,000 — $60,000 from the council’s Covid-19 fund matched by the Otago Community Trust — and the Pasifika fund will offer $60,000, half covered by the council and the other half by the Otago Community Trust.

The panels’ full membership is expected to be decided next month; fund applications open from early November and will be allocated in mid-December.

If we list everything the mayor and DCC have done since being elected how long would the list be? My list has a lot of empty space after the entry: "They showed up"! Anybody have anything different? Just curious. Seems like they have been paid a lot of money but haven't produced anything.

Err... They painted some dots on the road! Oh and a multi million dollar cycle lane to the port. Then there is the peninsula road which is so good they are having to reduce the speed limit. I'm on a roll now because how could I forget the new LED street lights which are so bright we no longer need to use our toilet light at home. And they had a art competition and a sandpit! What more do you want? But most of all they have spent a lot of time and money trying to convince us they are doing a wonderful job and how lucky we are to have them.

Ate lunch....
