More of Dunedin's telecommunications cabinets will be transformed into street art this summer.
The Dunedin City Council yesterday announced it was seeking artists to decorate more of Chorus' cabinets, this time in the central city and at the entrance to Dunedin International Airport.
Council urban design team leader Crystal Filep said selected artists would be paid $400 by Chorus for work on the central city's smaller cabinets, and $1500 to decorate a larger cabinet at the airport.
Artists had until September 29 to submit their proposals to the council, she said.
The central city cabinets were located close to George St, between the Octagon and Frederick St.
The latest work would be the fifth round of cabinet decorations, and was scheduled to begin in November and be completed by March next year.
Chorus began trialling artwork on its cabinets in other cities in 2010 in an attempt to prevent tagging and vandalism.
It extended the scheme to Dunedin in 2014.
About 45 cabinets across the city have been painted so far.
