Eichardt's Private Hotel will soon be offering guests in Queenstown a stay on its luxury yacht - starting at $12,500 per night.

The company has bought Pacific Jemm, which is docked in Queenstown's Steamer Wharf.

The multimillion-dollar yacht was previously owned by Blenheim Holdings of Marlborough and has been on the lake since 2011.

The level of service aboard the refitted 24m Falcon 80 S is expected to be similar to that offered in the $10,000-a-night penthouse in Marine Pde, which the company has branded the ''country's most exclusive accommodation''.

''The boat's in fantastic condition but it is just about putting the Eichardt's touch to it,'' group general manager James Cavanagh said.

''For the peak season when there is not enough accommodation at the luxury inn, it can be used and guests will have access to the hotel's facilities.''

The starting price of $12,500 is for an overnight stay for a group of up to 10 guests sharing the yacht's four suites.

Eichardt's is part of the Imperium Collection group, owned by Christchurch businessman Andrew Cox.

The yacht will have two crew members, who can also stay on board overnight.

Guest packages include tailored cruises on Lake Wakatipu, a helicopter trip to the West Coast to collect crayfish, custom fire-work displays and supercar rides.

Mr Cox said the company was ''thrilled'' to have acquired the yacht.

''The Pacific Jemm is currently undergoing a significant upgrade to bring it to the standard that our guests expect, and will offer signature experiences akin to the standard set by the penthouse.''

Day trips and private events for up to 45 people can also be hosted on the yacht.

The vessel is expected to be ready for customers next month and the company has already started taking bookings.

"Super yacht?" All I see in the photo is a very ordinary power boat, and not very large. I repeat; $12,500 for a night aboard this run-about is UTTER NONSENSE!
No wonder NZ is in such trouble with housing prices--some people need to get real.
