The much-love children's character Peter Rabbit will be brought to life in New South Wales in an international animated feature film starring Australian actress Rose Byrne, the state government has announced.
The film based on the beloved British tale of Peter Rabbit, written and illustrated by Beatrix Potter, will be directed by American producer Will Gluck, known for his role in Friends with Benefits.

Byrne, who become a first-time mum to son Rocco in February this year, will work alongside British actor and comedian James Corden, who will take on the voice of the mischievous Peter Rabbit as he clashes with Mr McGregor.

Peter Rabbit is one of several productions brought to the state by the Made in NSW fund, an incentive to attract international film and high-end Australian television drama to the state.

The film's production is already under way at Sydney's Animal Logic Studio with live-action filming set to commence in January next year.

Deputy Premier of NSW Troy Grant said the production would create jobs for 55 local actors and more than 600 crew.

Byrne recently starred in Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising and X-Men: Apocalypse.

Corden has not starred in a major studio film since Into the Woods as his gig as host of The Late Late Show in the US consumes a lot of his time. The show was recently nominated for four Emmy's.
