Chris Brown a good guy now?

Is it safe to call Chris Brown a good guy now?

The singer is hard on the press trail to redemption before the release of his new album, X. He has just released the album's first single, Fine China, which Brown directed himself.

Since Brown beat his on-again-off-again girlfriend Rihanna in 2009, he's been crawling his way toward PR redemption. He stopped by the struggling Today show to talk to Matt Lauer about the lessons he's learned since then.

Here's what he told Lauer: "I think it's just me proving myself once again and also me just being a man, and knowing what I did wrong and never doing it again. As far as me and her (are) concerned, she knows my heart and I know her heart. I'm not really focused on the negative. I did my 52 weeks of counseling and learned it was absolutely wrong."

Judging from the mixed reactions to his appearance, which both criticized and hailed NBC for bringing him on the show, Brown has a long way to go before the public believes he's turned over a new leaf.

At a Knicks game at Madison Square Garden on Easter Sunday, Brown was met with hearty boos when his mug popped up on the Jumbotron.

Maybe his therapy is working, because when the booing began, he kept his shirt on, didn't throw any chairs, and laughed.
