They have ridden shotgun for each other on red carpets across the globe for years, but Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban will be forced apart this weekend.

It's official. The Australian wonder couple has become too successful.

When Kidman is walking down the red carpet at London's Royal Albert Hall this Sunday (local time) for the UK's version of the Oscars, the British Academy Film Awards, Urban will be in the hunt for three awards in Los Angeles at music's biggest night, the 59th Annual Grammy Awards.

"We couldn't believe it," Kidman, up for the BAFTA supporting actress award for Lion, told Entertainment Tonight.

"It's an amazing thing to be honoured in both our fields in the same night at the same time."

Not only will Kidman miss her New Zealand-born husband as he goes for three Grammys, including Best Country Album, Best Country Song and Best Country Solo Performance, but she will not be front row to watch him perform a duet on stage with Carrie Underwood.

"I would so love to be there grooving to his tunes, you know?" Kidman said.

Lady Gaga and Metallica will also perform together while Beyonce, Adele, Katy Perry, The Weeknd, Daft Punk and Bruno Mars will hit the stage during the ceremony that will include tributes to George Michael and Prince.

Beyonce, who just announced she is pregnant with twins, is set to dominate, after beating all other artists with nine nominations.

Drake, Rihanna and Kanye West scored eight nods each.
