CD reviews: Airbourne

If Tom Petty can take Sam Smith to task on song plagiarism, then AC/DC and Rose Tattoo can pretty much call Airbourne out on every track here.

Throwing more "rocks" than a digger in a quarry, the Aussie quartet specialise in big, dumb stadium anthems lacking any sort of subtlety.

It’s all about planting the foot firmly on the monitor, dialling 11 on the amp and shaking the mullet back and forth.

In an Airbourne world, life is all about drinking, partying and more drinking and partying.

Unfortunately, even with one cranking riff after another, there isn’t enough tongue in cheek to render this as anything other than a revivalist cover band going through the motions.

• Airbourne. Breakin’ Outta Hell. Universal.

Two and a half stars (out of five)

Single download: Thin the Blood
For those who like:  Rose Tattoo, AC/DC, Judas Priest
