CD reviews: Anika Moa

The past few years have been eventful for Anika Moa: she's had twins, moved cities at least twice, married, divorced, met a new partner and had another baby.

Thus, when it comes to material for songs, she's got plenty.

Her latest release is pitched as a break-up album, yet Moa manages to make it an occasionally joyous experience.

That is due to a couple of factors: firstly, her effortless, crystal-clear voice; secondly, an approach that mixes electro-pop, ethereal electronica and soulful R 'n B.

Gone is the acoustic guitar-slinging singer-songwriter; in her place, a not-quite-new, yet revived performer.

The new musical clothes suit her well.
