That, and the fact that one half of the brother-sister duo sounds eerily reminiscent of Ella Yelich-O'Connor.
With moments that feel like pared-back Portishead with a little dash of Goldfrapp, The Broods make lush whimsical pop that is not overly saccharine.
Sparse staccato drums pepper the backing as inventive vocal treatments ebb and flow over a gradually evolving soundscape.
But as the six tracks plough a similar path, it'll be curious to see how The Broods evolve.
