CD Reviews: Charli XCX

Having penned airwave-devouring cuts such as Icona Pop's I Love It and Iggy Azalea's Fancy, Charli XCX's metamorphosis from fledgling synth-goth to petulant pop princess is complete with the release of Sucker.

Among 13 tracks of sparkly pop-punk, London Queen sees the former Charlotte Aitchison crib Joey Ramone's snotty sneer, while Break the Rules is set to soundtrack a cafeteria food fight coming to a big screen near you.

Cue Boom Clap, where near-whispered verses and onomatopoeia collide with a gigantic, cascading chorus, suggesting more than a bratty pop behemoth in the making.
