CD reviews: Jesse Davidson

Jesse Davidson has made quite an impression across the Ditch.

Having reached the finals of the Triple J radio network's high school music contest in 2012, the Adelaide 19-year-old has followed his 2013 debut album with a five-track offering that mixes electronic and guitar-based soundscapes and a sometimes sparse approach touching on R 'n' B and the direct attitude of hip-hop.

It's an intriguing fusion, albeit slightly lacking in lyrical depth, although repetition is hardly a fault in the world of pop.

Indeed, as Davidson often proves here, less is sometimes more.
