CD reviews: Neil Young and Promise of the Real

It's no surprise to find a bellicose Neil Young once more coming out slugging against ''the corporations''.

What is surprising is the vigour with which he fights, given that he knows he's also battling the apathy of those who applaud his efforts from the stands.

People Want To Hear About Love, he concedes, aiming a jab at the listener, but agricultural biotech giant Monsanto is his chief target, its perceived bullying tactics detailed in a string of loose and grungy hard-rock jams.

The gentler Wolf Moon reminds us that the pain Young feels for a dying earth is sincere.
