CD Reviews: Old Crow Medicine Show

The ninth studio album from American string band traditionalists Old Crow Medicine Show is notable for a few reasons: the absence of Willy Watson, nasal vocal foil to key member Ketch Secor; the return of founding member Critter Fuqua; and, perhaps more significantly, the group's second collaboration with Bob Dylan.

Having co-penned breakthrough hit Wagon Wheel, OCMS's latest Dylan foray has resulted in Sweet Amarillo, a lurching fiddle fest that laments the loss of a rodeo-going girlfriend.

Produced by Ted Hutt, Remedy is both slick and slightly ragged, redolent of an oh-so-tight band intent on a bender.
