CD reviews: Santigold

It's clear from a cursory glance at the cover that Santi White's third album takes a not-so-sly dig at the world of day-glo fake plastic pop - a budget commodity, shrink-wrapped and airbrushed for our pleasure.

Yet the irony remains that 99c is chock-full of the jittery, genre-jumping joie de vivre that has marked her previous releases, and could yet propel her into mainstream pop consciousness: the dubby lilt of Big Boss Big Time Business, Who I Thought You Were's giddy new-wave glide, and the dreamily anthemic melody that underpins the minimalist gem Chasing Shadows.
