Jason Donovan in pop comeback

Former pop star Jason Donovan is planning a comeback by releasing his first album in 15 years.

The 40-year-old Neighbours heartthrob plans to unveilhis new album, titled Let It Be Me, on November 10.

Donovan says the album, his first since All Around the World, has been inspired by music from the 1950s and 1960s.

Included among the tracks are new versions of classics such as Blue Velvet, Love Hurts and Smoke Gets in My Eyes.

He has also revamped one of his old pop hits, Sealed With a Kiss, and written new track Dreamboats and Petticoats.

"The biggest news of 2008 for any fan is that Jason has signed a record deal with Decca," Donovan's website says.

"He is currently in the recording studio making his first album in 15 years.

Donovan has previously released eight solo albums.

His first big singles hit was Nothing Can Divide Us in 1988.

Success quickly followed when Donovan teamed up with former Neighbours co-star and girlfriend Kylie Minogue to record a duet, Especially For You.

Donovan made his return to television earlier this year, starring in the British soap Echo Beach.

He recently married his long-time partner and mother of his two children, Angela Malloch, in Bali.
