Music review: Drake

Drake. Scorpion. Universal. ★★+

The fifth album from the former Aubrey Graham arrives with a heavyweight thud - a colossal 25 tracks, echoing Views' widescreen panorama, and trading on the soulful vulnerability with which Drake has built his empire.

As befits a stream-straddling juggernaut, the production is pinpoint, and the singles deployed with military precision; though this can't quite disguise the musk of bloated hubris, nor Drake's overdeveloped persecution complex - titles such as I'm Upset and Can't Take a Joke, alongside lyrics opining "my comments section killin' me" grate over the duration, stifling moments of genuine wit and invention.
