Music review: Teyana Taylor

Teyana Taylor. K.T.S.E. G.O.O.D. Music. ★★★+

It's the turn of nu-soul siren-cum-reality TV star (and Kanye West video muse) Teyana Taylor to take centre-stage on the final of the five G.O.O.D. music releases overseen by Mr. West this past month. K.T.S.E., Taylor's first effort since 2014's VIII, is rich in swirling emotions and backed by inspired (and seemingly reinvigorated) production - dusty soul samples and muscular, modern rhythms abound - providing the perfect backdrop to her effortless (and effervescent) vocals. Though some insipid sentimentality seeps through, the likes of Rose in Harlem - a half-sung/half-rapped funk strut - the rapturous Gonna Love Me, and Hurry's sensuous flirtations radiate personality.
