New Zealand’s Labour-led Coalition Government announced at the beginning of 2018 that its fees-free policy will make the first year of tertiary education free to anyone who has not previously been enrolled at a tertiary education provider and studied for a duration of more than six months.

❛ Students can apply for shared accommodation at SIT’s apartments in Invercargill for free. ❜

Institute of Technology (SIT) is offering the Mayor Tim Shadbolt Accommodation Bursary for Invercargill to all students studying at Invercargill campus who are eligible for the Government’s fees-free policy.

Students can apply for shared accommodation at SIT’s apartments in Invercargill for free, or, alternatively, $100 per week for up to 40 weeks’ accommodation, regardless of whether the student is living at home or renting in Invercargill.

For students who are unsure whether they meet the eligibility requirements for the fees-free policy and Mayor Tim Shadbolt Accommodation Bursary for Invercargill, you can enter your National Student Number (NSN) at www.feesfree.govt.nz to find out.

If you don’t know your national student number, you can contact NZQA on 0800-697-296.

SIT has recently built a new block of student apartments and the first students moved in this year.

All of SIT’s Invercargill student accommodation is located only a short walk from the main campus and most of SIT’s programmes are covered by the Zero Fees Scheme, whether students are in their first year or not.

For more information on SIT’s exclusive Zero Fees Scheme, please visit https://www.sit.ac.nz/Fees-Enrolments/Zero-Fees.

If you’ve taken advantage of the Government’s fees-free policy this year, then you’ll be pleased to know that SIT still offers the Zero Fees Scheme to year two and three students.

So don’t bother growing your student loan; transfer to Invercargill and launch your future the smart way!
