Healthier, happier living at Enliven - Presbyterian Support

If you are seeking a local provider, the highest quality of care and plenty of options as you age, then Enliven is for you.

Enliven offers homely environments across Otago and Southland, with 13 established settings, including Invercargill, Gore, Dunedin, Mosgiel, Oamaru, Balclutha, Alexandra, Wanaka and Queenstown.

There are a range of services, including SupportLink, Club Enliven, independent retirement living, rest home, hospital and dementia care.

People-centred
Quality of life co-ordinator Shannon McLeod says she loves the Enliven philosophy. ”It is so people-centred. It’s about making sure people are respected, valued, and their opinions are heard. I’ve always believed people should be empowered to do what they want with their lives, and that fits with the values of Enliven.’’ A proud local not-for-profit organisation, any profit that is generated through our services goes back into the community.
Presbyterian Support Southland (PSS) is locally owned and operated and has been supporting people in Southland for 100 years and in Otago for over 110 years, with the highest quality care. Ross Home in Otago celebrated it’s 100-year anniversary in 2018, and Peacehaven Village in Invercargill celebrated its 65th anniversary earlier in 2019.

Dedicated staff
Our loyal staff love their work. Annette Allen has worked for PSS for over 30 years and says: “When I walk in the door at Peacehaven, it just feels like home. I love the elderly, I really do, and we have a lot of fun. I’d like to think I make a difference in their lives.’’

Dementia-friendly care
Providing a safe and secure dementia friendly environment is important at Enliven. A number of our homes have a dementia area and we’re constantly on the lookout for ways to enrich the lives of residents. In Otago, we’ve got a Spark of Life programme at Ranui, a philosophy that meets the emotional needs of residents living with dementia, and in Southland we have a couple of PARO interactive robotic seals, along with a sensory room at Peacehaven Village.

Music-enrichment programme
Unique to Enliven Southland is a Music Enrichment Programme launched in 2016. Now one of our most successful ‘Quality of Life’ programmes, it allows residents a space in which to relax, be creative, and connect with each other. Music therapist Jamie Macdonald says: “The key to the programme is not just about listening but engaging. It’s about the full cognitive experience’’.
