‘Beethoven’s Emperor’ concert performed by DSO coming soon!

DSO’s ‘Beethoven’s Emperor’ concert on 26 November, 7.30 pm at the Dunedin Town Hall (which replaces the cancelled ‘Russian Rhapsody’ concert) features celebrated NZ conductor Kenneth Young, plus eminent NZ pianist Diedre Irons performing Beethoven’s powerful ‘Emperor’ concerto.

Leonie Holmes’s evocative ‘Elegy’ opens the concert. Also on the programme is Shostakovich’s remarkable Symphony No. 9 which displays genuine lyricism, profound and powerful sorrow, as well as Shostakovich’s unique irreverent and sardonic sense of humour.
