A calm sanctuary for older citizens

South Dunedin is coming together on Saturday to celebrate all things South D.

❛ On the street there will be dancing, music, Mitre 10 demonstrations, a Steady as You Go yoga demonstration by Age Concern, an international food court, a magician, the City of Dunedin Pipe Band, lots of stalls and many more attractions. ❜

One of the most important and valuable parts of our community are our older people. Sometimes, though, festivals are too difficult for them, and other people with limited mobility, to get to and enjoy. This year we are setting up The Club in the South Dunedin Community Hall, 253 King Edward St. The lovely folk at PlusBus will provide free transport to the Community Hall. South Dunedin residents can ring PlusBus on (03) 455-4050 to book a ride.  Unfortunately the vehicle can’t take wheelchairs, but has room for walking frames.

On arrival, people will be welcomed, offered a cuppa and a bite, a companion to walk out into the street if desired and a safe resting place to return to when energy gives out. Entertainment in the Hall will be provided by the Age Concern and South Dunedin Line Dancers, the South Dunedin Dance Club and possibly even the Rock ‘n’ Rollers! It will be fun! On the street there will be dancing, music, Mitre 10 demonstrations, a Steady as You Go yoga demonstration by Age Concern, an international food court, a magician, the City of Dunedin Pipe Band, lots of stalls and many more attractions.

There will also be a stall with information about the water situation in South Dunedin. So come along, bring a friend or two and enjoy a day out in your community For more information contact Eleanor Doig on 027 339-7949 or (03) 455-3777
