Go Wild in the Holidays

We’re celebrating the wonders of Wild Dunedin these holidays with fun activities in town, on Otago Peninsula, at Karitane, Port Chalmers, Otago Harbour, Orokonui and the Sinclair Wetlands.

See freshwater Kōura and Peripatus up close at Nature HQ at the Community Gallery, enjoy a puppet show, make your own Peripatus or a penguin kite, then fly your kite at Larnach Castle!

See wild movies at Otago Museum, hunt for pesky pests at Glenfalloch, take a boat trip from Port Chalmers to Portobello or Harwood, walk Huriawa Peninsula and learn about the historic pā, or paddle a kayak at Sinclair Wetlands. You could even learn how to set up your own native freshwater aquarium.

Discover the beauty of moths, look at birds, stars or Aramoana by moonlight, or bring your favourite soft toy to the Museum and learn how to bandage it from the team at the Wildlife Hospital.

All these exciting opportunities and many more are happening in the school holidays and most of them are free!
