The 2017 Port Chalmers Seafood Festival isn’t letting anyone get away with saying traveling to Port Chalmers is too hard for this year’s festival.

The festival which has a family focus with accompanied children 12 and under free this year, are once again running free buses when showing a festival ticket to and from Port Chalmers throughout the day.

“We want to not only support local businesses like these transport providers but also give festival goers a fun and easy way to make it to and from the festival,” Said Moore. “It not only makes it fun for the kids, but also ensures people can get to and from the festival responsibly while giving locals the chance to experience just how great our local tourism operations are.”

Event organizing committee Chair Justin Moore also confirmed they will once again be running a limited number of trains with Dunedin Railways, and have the support of local harbour cruise providers Monarch Wildlife Tours.

Monarch Wildlife Tours are running two boats on the day, their ever popular Monarch which will be taking passengers from Dunedin to the festival, and the Vivienne J, normally used for charter tours will be ferrying passengers from Portobello and back along with running special harbour cruises for just $5.00 per person during the event.

“The festival is all about local seafood, and community groups, and businesses, so it’s great to have local tour operators showing Dunedinites how they play a part in our local economy.” Said Moore.

Local water taxi services will also be running between a number of peninsula wharfs to help get festival goers to and from the festival.
