From punk rock engineers to stay-at-home mothers, from senior university academics to little girls with big dreams; scientists are everywhere and science is all around us. 100 women, 100 words... infinite possibilities responds to the question of "what does a scientist look like?" and the answer is... anything!

Come and celebrate the women nominated by Otago/Southland as those who actively live, work, and inspire others with STEM in all areas of their lives. These individuals, their passions, and their stories make them role models for everyone. Come along, and be inspired.

Elves' Workshop + Makerspace
All day, 12 – 19 December

Join our merry elves in their workshop on Atrium Level 1 and make some festive decorations for your home and your Christmas tree. These self-guided, family-friendly activities are a great way to spend an hour or three.

Babette's Great Escape

Babette the brachiosaurus has escaped from our shop and gone wild in the galleries.⁠ To join the hunt, gather a submission sheet from the Museum Foyer, and use Babette's selfie to figure out where she's been in the Museum.

Correct submissions go into the draw to win 4 x single entry tickets to Dinosaur rEvolution!

Holiday Choirs @ OM

Over the next two weekends leading up to Christmas we have collected Dunedin's favourite choirs to fill the walls of the Museum with joyous song. Come along, take a seat, and take in the festive spirit.

Dinosaur rEvolution: Secrets of Survival

Come along to find out why some dinosaurs went extinct, yet others survived and evolved, and answer the biggest question of all: did the T. rex really have feathers?!

Otago Museum is the only South Island venue for Australia’s Gondwana Studios spectacular travelling exhibition.

See huge robotic dinosaurs that move and roar bringing Jurassic giants to life! Skeletons, skulls, gigantic artwork, and touchable fossil casts will transport you to another world.
