Event aims to promote diversity in game industry

Game developers throughout the world are dressing for success this week.

Created by Dunedin-based mobile game developer and publisher Runaway Play, Game Dev Fashion Week highlights diversity in the game development industry and encourages game developers globally to take part.

In a statement, Runaway Play chief executive Zoe Hobson said it aimed to promote diversity in game development and challenge preconceptions about what a game developer looked like.

Developers participated by dressing up and sharing photos on social media using the hashtag #gamedevfashion.

This year’s event would also support Dress for Success, a charity that empowered women to achieve economic independence.

For every #gamedevfashion photo shared and tagged @RunawayPlay, the company would donate to Dress for Success.
