American singer Kanye West wants to create an "affordable" shoe range.

The Bound 2 hitmaker has been working with Adidas for just over three years and shows no signs of slowing down as he is determined to come up with a shoe that costs under $US30 ($NZ$42).

Speaking on BBC Radio One on Monday, West explained: "I'm going to Adidas and I'm like,' Adidas, I know you've never made a shoe under $50 but we have to make a shoe that costs $30 and I'm gonna be the coolest shoe of all.' "

And, although he's got a highly successful music career under his belt and a fashion empire, West - who claimed he was in $US53 million in debt earlier this year - is most excited about designing the affordable shoe for his fans.

Meanwhile, the 39-year-old rapper recently revealed the popular sports brand is planning to build more factories this year to cope with the demand for his Yeezy collection.
