Winton Bakery's apple pies

Winton Bakery's apple pies

Makes 2 family-sized pies or 5 small pies

Ingredients
sweet short pastry
750g apples

50g sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
30g stabliser, optional

Method
Preheat oven to 160degC.

Peel, core and cut apples into 1cm x 1cm diced (approx), and boil until just cooked - keeping a slightly firm appearance. Drain and cool for 10 minutes, then add stabliliser (if required), cinnamon and sugar.

Set aside.

Roll out pastry until approx 0.5cm in thickness.

Cut to the size of your pie dish.

Add apple filling.

Spray with water.

Add top pastry, and cut shape or lattice pastry top if you prefer.

Spray with water and sprinkle with sugar.

Cook for about 30 minutes, until golden and brown.

Enjoy with cream, ice cream or yoghurt.
