I was disappointed to find Twinings vanilla tea no longer available in my local supermarket.
Matt Greenwood, master tea taster at Bell Tea, which imports Twinings, says sales were too low to continue importing the variety.
Unlike most of the other Twinings teas, which are packed in New Zealand, that was packed in the UK and they were not selling the requisite amount here, he said.
A pity, as vanilla flavours blend well with black tea, making a delicious drink.
However, vanilla tea is still available in Dunedin from The T Shop at the Otago Farmers Market, at the railway station on Saturday mornings.
