Four Otago food manufacturers have been named as finalists in the New Zealand Food awards.

They are among the top contenders from New Zealand's food and beverage industry with 65 products developed by 64 companies named as finalists.

The Otago entries are:
• Prohibition Smokehouse (Dunedin) which has Holy Habanero Sauce and Apple Pie Moonshine as its entries;
•  Who ate all the pies? which has its family pie range as a finalist;
•  Keewai Freshwater Crayfish (Mosgiel)
•  The Soda Press (Wanaka) which has its raspberry and mint soda syrup.

Overall entries were up 62% on last year, a record for the long-running awards.

The judges are chef and food writer Ray McVinnie, food writer and cookbook author Nici Wickes and Auckland restaurateur and chef Geoff Scott.
