Michelle Mielnik is chairwoman of Habitat for Humanity's Dunedin affiliate.

What is one strong childhood memory?

Going to Central Otago for family camping trips, swimming in the river, riding motorbikes, staying in tents and campfire cooking, but most importantly, wrapping a long piece of canvas around a tree, then hanging a 20-litre container with a tap, using a tin can for a shower rose and showering outside.

What is your least favourite thing about humanity?

The evil trio of ignorance, violence and cruelty, an affiliation of hate that robs so many, disregarding the value of humanity through fear, pain and trauma.

What is your message?

If I have something good, I will share it. If I have knowledge or information that would be of benefit, I will share it. To give and bless others is truly rewarding and brings people together.

If you were going to an island and could take only three things, what would they be? A yacht, captained by my husband and sons, unlimited access to coffee and a fuelled-up and piloted helicopter as a back-up in case my husband sinks the yacht.

What's something only your family knows about you?

I will wear lipstick even when in my gumboots and landscaping in the back yard. I am known to my nieces and nephews as Aunty Lipstick.
