WHAT IS YOUR FOCUS AT THE MOMENT?

Connection, communication, collaboration. My mahi is to bring people together to form a community of passionate change-makers. I am facilitating environmental hui events which involve sharing kai, some games to help people open up and get to know each other, and discussion about how we can collaborate better. These events are for activist groups, community groups, corporate and governmental bodies and anyone willing to get involved. They are intended to unite people and help them feel empowered in their change-making ability.

WHY DID YOU GET INVOLVED?

To be the change. It is becoming increasingly clear to me that our current system is not serving us. Instead, it is based on disconnection, individualism, and exploitation of both our natural resources and inner wellbeing. We need to seriously reconfigure our social organisation structure in order to provide a sustainable future for ourselves, our children, and this beautiful Earth we call home.

WHAT SHOULD WE HOPE FOR?

A future in which our actions are not only sustainable, but regenerative. In which people are integrated into diverse, loving communities. In which environmentalism is so ingrained in our culture that our living systems have inherent respect for the natural world.

HOW DO WE GET THERE?

Take a minute now. Reflect on your relationship with your environment and your community. When was the last time you went for a walk in the forest? Where do you source your food from? Do you talk to your neighbours? Do you talk to your politicians? I invite you to reconsider the limits of your comfort zone and be the change.
