WHAT DOES YOUR ORGANISATION DO?
The Kiwi Bottle Drive is working to get a bottle deposit scheme for New Zealand. It's a modern version of what New Zealand used to have, when you received a refund for your glass bottles. This time, it would include plastic, aluminium, or any kind of beverage container. You get a refund and the bottles and cans get properly recycled.
HOW DOES THIS HELP?
Bottle deposits are the next step towards zero waste. They provide an incentive to recycle, preventing litter. They will help our seas become plastic-free and leave the landfills empty. They are the most effective way to make a circular economy for plastic bottles, drink cans and glass bottles.
WHAT DO YOU HAVE PLANNED NEXT?
We're taking our petition to Parliament at the end of November, and will be building up to it with a day of action on November 20.
CAN OTHERS GET INVOLVED?
Yes! On the day of action we'll be encouraging people to get their friends to sign the petition and drop into a pop-up event. An immediate thing would be to sign our petition and find us on Facebook or Instagram to stay in touch.
