Eight properties are under threat from a large bushfire burning in northern Queensland.
The Queensland Fire and Rescue Service (QFRS) says four crews are attending the blaze near the Bruce Highway and Probert Road, Bambaroo, north of Townsville.
Crews were establishing containment lines while protecting eight properties under immediate threat about 2am (AEST), QFRS said.
Properties have been door-knocked and residents advised.
Any other residents who believed their home was under threat should call triple zero.
A large volume of smoke is expected to cover the area for several days and motorists are urged to exercise caution and drive to conditions.
