Family of four found dead in Sydney home

A family of four has been found dead in a home in Sydney's northern suburbs.

Officers were called to the home on Sir Thomas Mitchell Drive in Davidson at 11.20am on Monday in response concerns for their welfare.

Alarms were reportedly raised when the mother didn't show up for canteen duty earlier in the day.

The bodies of a man, woman, girl and boy were found inside the home.

The family dog was also discovered dead inside the property, police say.

A neighbour, who has lived in the street for nearly 50 years, said the family moved to the area around 2005.

She spoke of seeing the children playing in parklands opposite their house.

The woman, who did not want to be identified, said she had little to do with the parents and hadn't seen them in a while.

Another neighbour, who has lived nearby since 1979, said the quiet, leafy street had never experienced such a tragedy.

Forensic officers are examining the property, which is now a crime scene.

It is understood police are trying to contact the next of kin before addressing the media later on Monday.
