Prime Minister Julia Gillard's move to open the door to uranium exports to India reportedly follows talks with the Obama administration.
The US has been pursuing a closer partnership with India and considers Australia a key part of its strategy, The Australian reported today.
Ms Gillard has denied that the decision was made to coincide with President Barack Obama's visit to Australia and said it was her decision alone.
The Australian, however, reported that US and Australian officials have been in intense strategic discussions about India for several months.
