A lone gunman is holed up in an empty regional Victorian pub, sparking a police stand-off.
The man walked into the closed hotel on the Princes Highway between Cann River and Orbost in East Gippsland on Monday morning.
A woman who went into the hotel was confronted by the man holding a firearm, but he did not make any direct threats or demands to her.
She left the hotel and called police at about 9.30am.
Police have set up a cordon, blocking the Princes Highway, and are waiting on the Critical Incident Response Team to arrive.
