Man charged after 14-hour Gold Coast siege

A 42-year-old man has been charged following a siege on the Gold Coast that lasted 14 hours.

Police said the man was armed with a knife, and was holed up inside a unit in the beachside suburb of Currumbin with his 16-year-old son from 7am on Tuesday.

The siege ended at about 8.30pm (AEST) when power to the unit was cut and officers moved in.

No one was injured and the man was arrested.

Police allegedly found dangerous drugs and paraphernalia during a search of the unit.

The man has since been charged with three counts of serious assault to police, possessing dangerous drugs and other drug offences.

He is to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
