Murder suspect to be extradited from Qld

A man will be extradited from Queensland to NSW over the shooting death of another man on the southern side of the border on the weekend.

Phil Becker (33) made a brief appearance at Southport Magistrates Court on Tuesday after he was arrested in the early hours of the morning at a service station south of Brisbane.

Becker did not oppose an extradition order by NSW Police in relation to the death of Ace Hall (31) at Tweed Heads on Saturday.

Becker is due to face Tweed Heads Local Court on Wednesday where it's expected he'll be charged with Mr Hall's murder.

Mr Hall, an alleged standover man, was taken to the Tweed Heads hospital on Saturday afternoon with a gunshot wound to his torso.

He died shortly afterwards despite receiving treatment.

Detective Inspector Wayne Starling says Becker has no known bikie links and Mr Hall's death appeared to be unrelated to a brawl between rival bikie gang members in Tweed Heads last Wednesday.

"There's no evidence directly relating this to outlaw motorcycle gangs," Det Insp Starling told AAP on Tuesday.

A 2017 white Holden Commodore found by police at Tweed Heads on Monday was the vehicle Mr Hall was in at the time he was shot, Det Insp Starling said.

Despite Becker's arrest police say the investigation into Mr Hall's death is ongoing and anyone with information should contact them.
