A Sydney businessman was shot in the head before his body was found at a popular lookout on the NSW south coast, police have revealed.
A park ranger discovered John Gasovski's body in bushland at Jamberoo Mountain Lookout, in the 7000-hectare Budderoo National Park, west of Kiama on Sunday morning.
An autopsy confirmed the 48-year-old, from Arncliffe in Sydney's south, died of a gunshot wound to the head.
His death is being treated as suspicious and a murder investigation is under way.
It remains unclear if Mr Gasovski was shot at the lookout or another location.
The married father of four told his family he was travelling to Canberra for a business trip on June 9.
They reported him missing after he failed to return on time the following day.
Detectives are trying to establish the businessman's last movements and are probing his business dealings and associates.
CCTV footage from a number of locations is also being trawled for clues.
Mr Gasovski's Facebook page said he ran a company called JSJ Communications.
JSJ Communications was placed into liquidation in June 2013 and the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) issued a note to deregister the firm.
