Teens charged over abduction

Two teens have been charged over the robbery and abduction of two people from a home in northwestern NSW at the weekend.

Police say an 80-year-old man and his 56-year-old daughter were awoken by loud noises from inside their home in Coraki early on Sunday morning.

The pair were then confronted by two masked men; one armed with a machete, the other with an axe.

The offenders allegedly threatened them before demanding cash and cigarettes from their adjoining shop.

The victims were then forced into the woman's Nissan Tiida and driven about 3km from Coraki before being ordered out.

Police were alerted and officers found the car in Casino a short time later.

A pursuit began but the pair evaded police when they stopped the car in a nearby street and fled on foot.

On Tuesday, two teenagers - aged 17 and 15 - were arrested in Walgett and charged with robbery and abduction offences.

Both were refused bail to appear at Walgett Children's Court on Wednesday.
