Truckie terrorises women on freeway

Two women in their 60s have been sideswiped by a truck that began tailgating them on a Melbourne freeway, before the driver approached them with a hammer and stick, pushed one woman over and began striking their car.

Police say the women were driving along Tullamarine Freeway about 1.10pm on Sunday when the truck driver began tailgating them and tooting his horn, before pulling alongside them and forcing them into a concrete barrier.

The truck struck the side of the car a second time and when the driver got out to inspect the damage, the truck driver approached her with a hammer and a stick, pushing her passenger to the ground when she tried to run away.

The truck driver then struck the women's car multiple times before they reversed away with the hammer in the back seat.

The man is described as of Middle Eastern appearance, and spoke with a slight accent, is aged in his late 20s, with curly short black hair, approximately 160cm tall and was wearing a top with 'Eden' written on it.

Investigators have released an image of the truck allegedly involved in the incident and anyone with information or dash camera footage is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
