The Office of Drug Control has granted AusCann a licence to grow medicinal cannabis in Western Australia.

The growing will take place at a top-secret location.

The Australian Securities Exchange-listed company's chairman, former federal Liberal MP Mal Washer, expects the first locally grown product will be ready next year.

AusCann will import medicines from its Canadian partner Canopy until it is able to supply Australian produced cannabinoid medicines.
