Woman dies after NSW plane crash

A woman has succumbed to her injuries after a light plane crashed and burst into flames in northern NSW.

The Cessna 210 aircraft got into trouble shortly after take-off before coming down in the Clive State Forest, next to Inverell Airport, just after 1pm yesterday (local time).

The plane burst into flames and although its three occupants escaped the wreckage, a 47-year-old woman and 52-year-old man suffered serious burns.

An 18-year-old girl suffered burns to her legs.

All three were taken to Inverell Hospital before the older pair were airlifted to Sydney's Royal North Shore Hospital.

The 47-year-old died in hospital early this morning.

The Australian Transport Safety Bureau is investigating and police are preparing a report for the coroner.
