Three dogs which mauled their 78-year-old owner as she tried to stop a fatal attack on a pug in Sydney's southwest have been destroyed.
Liverpool City Council confirmed the dogs were seized by council rangers on Tuesday morning and taken to a vet where the owner decided to put them down.
The elderly woman was taken to Liverpool Hospital in a serious condition with bite wounds to her arms, legs and back following the Monday night attack.
The three pet dogs had targeted the pug, which was also owned by the woman, before turning on her.
Two of the attack dogs were dingoes, while the other was a kelpie cross. All three were microchipped and registered, according to Liverpool City Council.
The elderly woman remains in a stable condition in hospital on Tuesday, a hospital spokeswoman told AAP.
Liverpool City Council chief executive Kiersten Fishburn reminded the public that dogs are animals and can be unpredictable.
"This should be kept in mind when handling them or choosing a pet," she said in a statement to AAP.
